Oretha Ferguson, Professional Development Specialist

Oretha has been in education for 20 years and currently teachers sophomore English at Southside High School in Fort Smith, Arkansas.  She was Fort Smith Public School's 2010-2011 Teacher-of-the Year and a state Teacher-of-the-Year finalists.  She is a master teacher and a technology coach and presents workshops for her school, the Fort Smith Public School District, the Western Arkansas Service Coop, Hot Springs Technology Institute, SWOW, TICAL, and for coops and school districts throughout the state.  She is a member of TIE Cadre, whose focus is to create modules and provide instructional technology training to teachers across the state. She is also a member of ARKSTE, NCTE, and the TICAL Community. She teaches in a one-to-one technology rich classroom. Her passion is working with students and showing teachers how to integrate technology to support teaching and learning.  She also sponsors Poetry Out Loud and the senior class.  She recently co-authored The Classroom Management Book with Drs.
